The Suffolk County Department of Public Works began overnight repaving along County Road 39 on Sunday night, June 15.
The DPW will be repaving the roadway east of North Sea Road and reconstructing the intersections where Shrubland Road and Greenfield Road meet County Road 39, which residents have said are hazardous for cars trying to enter the chronically congested county roadway.
The work will be done during overnight hours and two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, the county said, so impacts on the morning and evening rush hours are not expected, said Southampton Highway Superintendent Charles McArdle, who requested the county rework the intersections.
The work, which will also include upgraded drainage, is expected to take one to two weeks.
