Mark Parash and Andrew Pilaro were right about Mayor Jesse Warren. They sounded that alarm bell back in 2019 and never stopped ringing it. Why has it taken Roy Stevenson and Gina Arresta this long to hear it?
When I read Trustee Stevenson’s whining complaint in The Southampton Press last week [“Serious Misstep,” Letters, April 20], I couldn’t help remembering one of his more idiotic quotes from his previous campaign: “Jesse has done more for this village than any other mayor!” I hope you’re ready to eat those words, Roy, because the village taxpayers will be stuck paying to undo it for years to come. You knew back then, so why change your tune now?
Roy, as much as you are correct in taking the mayor to task for his latest stunt, you and Gina also need to explain to the residents of Southampton Village why you let the chaos progress as far as it has. How are you not part of the problem? You knew the truth back in 2021, but instead of standing up to Jesse then, you chose to attack Mark and Andrew because you thought it would help you win.
Rather than whining about the mayor’s antics, you should be apologizing to the residents of Southampton Village for not stopping his nonsense sooner. You should be telling us how you’re going to fix his mess. Rather than continue to point fingers, why don’t you start by owning your failure to act when you should have.
You should probably start by admitting Mark and Andrew were right.
