After years of battling addictions, Pascal Leader, known to everyone as Sax since birth, died in his Manhattan apartment on November 30. He was 25.

Mr. Leader lived on the East End since the age of 3, but was born in Manhattan to Graham D. Leader and Jacqui Sedlar Leader, both of whom survive him, and lived for a time in England before the family settled in East Hampton. He was born on March 8, 1988, and attended Hampton Day School, graduating from East Hampton High School in 2006.

After graduation, Mr. Leader attended National Outdoor Leadership School in Baja, Mexico, and then went to Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, California. He also attended New York City’s School of Visual Arts and various other educational programs, including acting school. Survivors describe him as an incredible artist, and his surfer/skater themes adorned t-shirts from his “On Point” company.

Mr. Leader is survived by a sister, Kira Leader of Southampton, her fiancé, Trevor Lysogorski, and their children, Torin and Nash. He lived with longtime girlfriend Abigail Gawronski, who also survives. He is also survived by Peter Creegan, his stepfather, and Jasper Creegan, his stepbrother.

A viewing will be held this Saturday, December 7, at 1 p.m. at the Springs Community Church with Tony Larson officiating; there will be a celebration of Mr. Leader’s life at 2:30 p.m. His ashes will be spread at his favorite surf spots, and the family requests that donations be made FleaHab Sober Living Environment in Capitola, California, www.fleahab.net.

Flag Legends

I was surprised to find out that the Betsy Ross flag is not an official flag of the United States. The case for the Betsy Ross flag’s legitimacy is one of inter-meshing legends — and it begins in Bridgehampton. Bridgehampton had a militia in 1775. John Hulbert, its leader, recruited 68 men. Congress ordered him to escort the British prisoners taken in the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga to Philadelphia, the Continental capital. Hulbert found himself in Philadelphia in late October or early November 1775. Hulbert’s flag had 13 six-pointed stars in a blue field, six stripes deep, in a diamond ... 8 Dec 2025 by Staff Writer

Insult to Injury

Environmentally minded Southampton residents should be concerned that “Madison Ave. Capital Partners” is asking the Southampton Village Zoning Board of Appeals for permission to build a long, elevated catwalk or dock across tidal wetlands at 1323 Meadow Lane — presented at the ZBA’s December 4 meeting. The ZBA appears poised to rubber-stamp it on January 15. The location could not be more sensitive. The area between the home and Shinnecock Bay is not simply a “wetland” — it is a tidal wetland system, one of the healthiest and cleanest in the bay. These wetlands flood and drain with the tide, ... by Staff Writer
