Patricia A. Lynch
Patricia A. Lynch of Southampton died on June 16 at Southampton Hospital. She was 59.
Born June 2, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas, she was the eldest child of Peggy Farrell and the late Daniel Holmgren.
Throughout her life, she had an interest in creating beautiful things, family members said, and in sharing generously with others. She worked as a floral designer for 10 years at the flower shop at Lynch’s Garden Center in Southampton. During that time, she helped with the design and creation of Lynch’s floats for the Fourth of July parade in Southampton, decorating the floats became fun events for the entire family.
She served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Water Mill and worked tirelessly for the preservation of both the Water Mill grist mill and the Corwith windmill. She also strongly supported U.S. troops in Iraq, sending care packages that included gifts for the children of war-torn Bagdad—“Beanies for Bagdad” was the organization that benefited most from her generosity.
Survivors said this week that her role as “Aunt Patty” to her cherished nieces and nephews is what will be remembered and missed most.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 33 years, Gerald G. Lynch of Southampton; two brothers, Daniel Holmgren of Phoenix, New York, and Michael Holmgren of North Carolina; a sister, Susan Linderman of Nevada; her mother-in-law, Ruth G. Lynch; her stepmother, Sally Holmgren; seven sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; 24 nieces and nephews; and 18 great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held on June 19 at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary in Southampton, with Father Jeff Madley and Monsignor Edmond Trench officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton.
