Patricia Mary Rist died on November 10, 2019, in the home she loved in East Quogue, surrounded by her family. She was 58.

Ms. Rist was born in the Bronx on September 22, 1961, to Joseph and Dolores O’Dea; her mother predeceased her.

She later moved to Southampton where she met Mark Rist. They were married on September 20, 1981, and remained happily married for 38 years.

“Patty,” as she was known to her family and friends, had an infectious smile and a love of life, survivors said, adding that, most of all, her exquisite kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Ms. Rist was a stay-at-home mom who loved gardening and decorating, almost as much as she loved the many family gatherings she hosted at her home. Later on she became project manager for Rist Builders.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; her sons, Brandon and wife Margo, and Matthew; her daughter Katelyn and husband Gary; and a granddaughter, Clara Rose, who was the light of her life.

Ms. Rist is also survived by her father, Joseph; sisters, Ann, Sheila and Jean; and brothers, Joseph and John; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton on November 15. Burial followed at Southampton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to East End Hospice, eeh.org.
