Patrick Masone
Patrick Masone of Montauk died at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead on May 8. He was 85.
Born on March 29, 1928, in Queens, he was the youngest of 13 children born to Pasquale and Antoinette Masone.
He moved to Montauk after retiring from teaching with the New York City Public Schools. He was a music teacher at Walden High School in the Bronx. His professional memberships included the National Education Association, New York, and the American Federation of Musicians.
Before he became a teacher, he was a musician with the group The Satisfiers, whose members included the well-known entertainer Arthur Godfrey. He was also a member of the USO and entertained troops during World War II. Survivors said he never lost his talent or passion for music and continued to play piano to nearly the end of this life. He kept his zest for life despite being in and out of the hospital for many years.
Mr. Masone is survived by a son, Russell Masone of Montauk; a sister, Mary Cunalay of Freeport; and several nieces and nephews in New York and New Jersey. He was predeceased by his wife, Arline (Pepe) Masone.
Funeral services were held at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton on May 13. Interment followed at Fort Hill Cemetery in Montauk.
