The first race of the Peconic Bay Sailing Association’s season, the Ray Krogman Memorial — named in honor of a founding father of the PBSA — was held on June 4.

A delightful mixture of sun and clouds greeted the fleet with east-northeast winds ranging from 8 to 12 knots, as they circumnavigated Robin’s Island. Photographed by E-33 Entropy’s mainsail trimmer, Michael Mella, it turned out to be a picture perfect day.

As the three divisions found their sea legs, it was Cruise A with five Alerion Express 28’s sparing with Entropy, that turned out to be nail-biting photo-finish contest. The final analysis: Windsong placed first on corrected time by 10.5 seconds, while Entropy gleaned line honors, getting the gun by almost 5:30 minutes ahead of Windsong.
