A pedestrian was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital on Sunday night after he was struck by a minivan while attempting to cross Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton.Police were called to Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton near the intersection of Corwith Avenue on Sunday night at 9:45 p.m. where they found the man, who has not been identified. He was attempting to cross Montauk Highway from the north shoulder when he was struck by a westbound white 2006 Chrysler mini-van, according to a press release from the Southampton Town Police. The man was treated on scene by the Bridgehampton Fire Rescue before being transported via Medevac by the Suffolk County Police Department Aviation Unit to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.According to police, the operator of the minivan was not injured.Montauk Highway was closed from School Street to Sag Harbor-Bridgehampton Turnpike for approximately 90 minutes on Sunday night while police conducted an investigation and cleared the scene. The minivan was impounded for a safety check.
