A pedestrian was killed Saturday night, September 2, shortly after 11 p.m., after being struck by a vehicle on Montauk Highway, east of Scuttle Hole Road, in Water Mill.
The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit responded and assisted Southampton Town Police with the investigation into the fatal accident.
The victim was identified earlier this week as Christopher Briscoe, 50, of Water Mill. His family has been notified, police said.
According to police reports, Briscoe crossed Montauk Highway, heading south, and was struck by a 2019 Nissan sedan driven by Spencer K. Cannon, 28, of Southampton, which was traveling east on Montauk Highway. Briscoe was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The car was impounded for a safety check, but police said no charges are expected to be filed against Cannon.
