At its February meeting, the Board of the Concerned Citizens of Montauk elected David Freudenthal to the position of chairman. Mr. Freudenthal succeeds Ed Braun, who has led the board since 2016.
“I’m grateful for the chance to have supported CCOM’s work and to the CCOM members who stand behind this work,” Mr. Braun said in a press release. “David brings new skills, great experience, and youthful vigor to this task.”
CCOM’s Board of Directors is the volunteer team elected by its membership to provide oversight and direction to the organization, and to support President Laura Tooman and the CCOM staff in their work protecting the unique environment and ecology of Montauk through education, advocacy, and grassroots citizen action. The board includes individuals who live in Montauk and are dedicated to the community.
Mr. Freudenthal has been associated with Montauk for 25 years, on the board for seven, and serves on the Montauk Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).
“CCOM owes huge thanks to Ed for his leadership,” said Mr. Freudenthal. “I joined CCOM to give back to this community that’s given me so much and is so central to my life, and I’m happy to help CCOM look forward. Montauk’s environment faces many challenges, but there are also exciting opportunities to preserve this place we all love. CCOM is here to meet that moment.
