Peter A. Berkoski of Southampton died on Saturday, December 6, at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson. He was 68.
Mr. Berkoski was born in Southampton to Jenny and Frank Berkoski. After a stint in the U.S. Marine Corps, he returned home to work as a mason.
He enjoyed an active life and playing golf, as well as clamming and fishing, which were among his favorite pastimes. He was a member of the Hampton Surf Club and loved spending time near the shore with his wife and family, especially in his camper overlooking the rocks from which he spent hours catching fish, survivors said.
Mr. Berkoski is survived by his wife, Suzanne; four children, Chip Wilson and wife Linda of Florida, Jeffrey Wilson and wife Kristin of Southampton, Scott Wilson and wife Jamison of Southampton; and Tami Brandt and husband Noel of Sag Harbor; five grandchildren, Skylar Wilson of Water Mill, Kaylie, Finn and Jagger Wilson of Southampton, and Jackson Brandt of Sag Harbor. He is also survived by five siblings, Bobby, Donny, Jerry, Rodney and Elaine Berkoski. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Louie and Richie.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
