Peter Fawcett Simmons of Quogue died on July 1. He was 78.

He was born on June 26, 1945. His family described him as “a remarkable individual whose presence touched the lives of many.” He was a true Renaissance soul, they said, and was known for his multifaceted journey through life, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Simmons called the picturesque East End of Long Island his home for the majority of his life. As a dedicated real estate broker and land developer, his family said, he not only shaped the landscape, but also helped others find their own place to call home. His innovative spirit and keen eye for potential transformed properties into vibrant communities, leaving a lasting legacy that will be admired for generations.

Beyond his professional achievements, Simmons was an adventurer at heart, his family said. From exploring hidden ski trails to sailing the open seas, he embraced every opportunity to experience the world around him especially traveling to Italy many times, the Caribbean and to South Africa. His thirst for discovery was equaled only by his love for family. As a devoted father, partner, and a “pop pop”he poured his heart into nurturing his loved ones, guiding them with unwavering support and boundless love.

He will be remembered, his family said, as one of innovation, compassion, and adventure.

“As we mourn his loss,” his family said, “we also celebrate the vibrant life he led and the countless lives he touched. Though he may have left this world, his spirit will forever live on in the memories, stories, and the very landscape he helped shape. Rest in eternal peace, dear Peter.”

He served in the United States Army and is interred in Calverton National Cemetery.
