Peter N. Meras of Riverhead died at Southampton Hospital on July 5. He was 87.
Born August 21, 1928, in Riverhead to Nicholas Meras and Marina Stravolous, he was the owner of the Star Confectionary Luncheonette in Riverhead. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, and completed his service with the rank of corporal.
He is survived by his wife, Helene Meras; brother, Anthony Meras; and stepdaughter, Katherine Manley; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson, Thomas Grathwohl; and a sister, Mitilda M. Delehanty.
Visitation was July 8 at Tuthill–Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place on July 9 at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hampton. Interment was at Riverhead Cemetery with military honors.
