Phillip Geib Dies At 79

Philip Geib

Philip Geib of New Bern, North Carolina, and formerly of Westhampton, died at his home in New Bern on Saturday, August 27. He was 79.

A decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force and received three Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Bronze Star Medal, and 12 Air Medals during the course of his 20-year career.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; children, Linda Samaritoni and her husband Jack of Indiana, Douglas Geib and his wife Kim of Florida, Steven Geib of Remsenberg and Westhampton, and Patricia Geib of New Jersey; grandchildren, Eric Samaritoni and his wife Deborah, Adam Samaritoni and his wife Hong, Daniel Samaritoni and his wife Jorden, Christopher Geib and his wife Jessica, Jennifer Geib, Jaime Geib and Taylor Geib; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper Geib, Marlee Grace Geib, and Hannah Samaritoni.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 4, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in North Carolina. Interment followed in the columbarium on the church premises.
