Phyllis Foulke Mahoney Dies At 89

Phyllis Foulke Mahoney

Phyllis Foulke Mahoney of Florida and formerly of New York City, Southampton, and New Jersey, died Friday, May 6. She was 89.

She was actively involved in several civic and charitable organizations both in Florida and New York. In 1971, she was named a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher by Pope Paul VI and later, a Dame of Malta. She was president of the Ladies of Charity of the Archdiocese of New York under the late Cardinal Terence Cooke and Cardinal John Joseph O’Connor. Ms. Mahoney was a fundraiser for the Catholic Center at New York University in Washington Square and a Eucharistic minister at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in Manhattan.

She and her husband Mort were partners in the family business of Foulke & Foulke, a retail women’s apparel store located in New York City and Jobs Lane in Southampton.

Ms. Mahoney is survived by her children, Maureen and her husband Jim Conway of Florida, Kathleen Mahoney of Florida, Brian and his wife Carol Mahoney of Rhode Island, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Mahoney, also of Florida; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Mort and son Kevin.

A funeral Mass took place at St. John the Evangelist Church in Florida on Monday, May 16. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Fuller Funeral Home in Florida.

SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A New Jersey man was charged with assault following a road rage incident on June 30 following a motor vehicle accident on Hill Street.
