After a first round bye, the No. 2 East Hampton boys soccer team is set to host No. 7 East Islip in the Suffolk County Class A quarterfinals on Thursday, October 27, at 2 p.m. East Islip (5-3-2 in League III, 9-3-3 overall) defeated Eastport-South Manor, 5-1, on Monday in the opening round to advance.
The Bonackers finished the regular season 7-7 and earned the third seed in the Suffolk County Division II playoffs. They will play at No. 2 Hauppauge (10-4) this Saturday, October 29, at noon. The winner of that match will advance to the county championship on November 2 at Newfield High School.
The Whalers are set to take on Greenport/Southold for the Suffolk County Class C Championship this Saturday, October 29, at Newfield High School at 4 p.m., or directly following the end of the preceding Class B final. Pierson defeated Greenport, 5-0, in the regular season finale on October 17, and also defeated the Porters, 4-0, in last year’s county title to win its seventh straight county title. The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the Long Island Class C Championship, which is set for November 2 at Berner Middle School in Massapequa at 4 p.m.
The Pierson/Bridgehampton girls volleyball team received the fourth seed in the Suffolk County Class C playoffs and will play at top-seed Mattituck this Friday, October 28, at 4 p.m. The winner of that match will play the winner of No. 2 Port Jefferson and No. 3 Babylon for the county title on November 7 at Hauppauge High School at 7:30 p.m. The Whalers most recently lost, 3-0, to the Tuckers on October 3, but had gone five sets with them back on September 6.
The Hampton Bays girls volleyball team is ready for its first playoff game since 2016 after finishing the season, 8-4, in League VII, 13-4 overall. That finish earned them the third seed in the Suffolk County Class B playoffs and will play at No. 2 Elwood/John Glenn this Tuesday, November 1. The two teams have played a pair of raucous matches this season including a 3-0 win by the Baymen at Glenn on September 8 followed by a 3-2 win by Glenn in Hampton Bays on October 6. The winner of that match will play the winner of No. 1 Bayport-Blue Point and No. 4 Center Moriches in the county championship on November 8 at Hauppauge High School at 7:30 p.m. or directly following the preceding Class A final.
