Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle that struck and injured a motorcyclist in Flanders last month and then fled the scene.
The dark blue or black Dodge Charger was westbound on Flanders Road at about 6:30 p.m. on August 24 when it struck the motorcyclist near the intersection with Woodroad Trail. Despite causing the accident that injured the motorcycle rider, the vehicle continued west toward Riverhead without stopping.
Police were able to capture images of the vehicle from security cameras in the area and are asking anyone who recognizes it to call detectives at 631-702-2230 or the town crime hotline at 631-728-3454 or email information to crimetips@southamptontownny.gov. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
