Police Seek Would-Be Speonk ATM Thieves

Southampton Town Police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help. They’re looking for information about and the identities of two men who tried to steal an ATM machine outside the Capital One Bank on Montauk Highway in Speonk last month.

The pair, both seen clad in dark clothing and masks on security video, were driving a dark work truck with an orange light on its roof. The attempted larceny, and subsequent damage to the ATM machine, took place on April 11. Police are just releasing information about the crime this week.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest, with all information kept confidential, police said. Anyone with information can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, using the mobile app that can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com.
