At the April 13 Southampton Village trustees meeting, following a decision by the Village Board, my term on the Southampton Village Planning Commission will come to an end.
Although I would have liked to continue my appointment on the Planning Commission, my tenure has been a very long one and I am cognizant that we serve at the pleasure of the Village Board, which has the right to nominate and replace members at their own discretion.
I am grateful to the board for the time it has allowed me to serve on the Planning Commission, where I was able to participate along with the other members in making a difference for our village.
Being on the Planning Commission has been a privilege, not a right, and I look forward to the eventual opportunity to serve again in another role.

Here’s a bit of a history to educate Mark Schulte [“Worth the Candle,” Letters, July 24] regarding the Shinnecock, whom he so casually denigrates. In 1640, after landing in what is now North Sea, the settlers were greeted by the...
Summer has always been busy, but there was always a sense of respect for the local community. Until this year. I was in Schiavoni’s last week, at the deli counter ordering some cold cuts. As I was waiting, a gentleman,...
Environmental alarmists make our lives worse because they want to feel good about how they view the world through their rose-colored glasses, and the classic example is Karl Grossman attacking fracking while extolling the virtues of wind farms off the...
