On behalf of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, I’d like to add my congratulations to Southampton Golf Club on the occasion of their 100th anniversary, and to thank The Press for celebrating it so well and appropriately in these pages [“An Under-The-Radar Gem, Southampton Golf Club Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Incorporation,” 27east.com, May 29].
Of all the historic golfing ground stretching from Tuckahoe to the Shinnecock Hills, no institution represents the spirit and values of the game better than Southampton Golf Club, nor is more genuinely representative of our wonderful Southampton community.
As their neighbors, we are lucky to sneak appreciative glimpses through the trees of their masterful Seth Raynor design and always perfect conditioning. As their friends, we are lucky to be invited to play, and enjoy the special warmth and camaraderie of the membership.
Southampton Golf Club, we are proud to call you neighbor, and look forward to your next 100 years of prosperity.
Brett Pickett
President

In following The Press’s continuing coverage of the Shinnecock, there seems to be a trend wherein the newspaper has become an apologist for the tribe. According to your recent stories, they are always, seemingly, fighting against the inhumanities perpetrated by...
Charlie McArdle has done good work on traffic. If he has any time left, he should remove the Robin Brown signs now scattered across Southampton Town public right of ways. Best of luck to his team in the Working Families...
I am very glad The Southampton Press held Friday’s debate and gave the public an opportunity to learn more about the candidates in the upcoming village election. I came away reminded again of the competence, commitment and energy of Mayor...
