Ready, Willing And Able

Wow! At times like this, when the world seems turned upside down, how wonderful it is to read your story about two special angels, Alie Fitt and Fainne Sheehan [“Westhampton Beach High School Students Unveil Little Free Pantry,” 27east.com, July 20].

Wonderful on the surface, for sure: two young teenagers expanding their support of a local food pantry by establishing the Westhampton Beach Little Free Pantry, a stand-alone, unmanned post allowing people in need of the basic necessities to take what they need, no questions asked.

Beneath the surface, however, it is so much more — especially for those of us who have been on this planet for a long time. It encourages us, especially during these troubling times, to see that the upcoming generation has special people like Alie and Fainne ready, willing and able to look beyond their own close universe to help those in need.

Well done!
