Reginald Keith Wright of Brooklyn and the Shinnecock Territory died on February 9 in Southampton, surrounded by his children, siblings, and in-laws. He was 74.

Born on March 24, 1949, “Reggie,” as he was affectionately known, lived his early years in Brooklyn with his seven siblings, of which he was the oldest. He moved to the Shinnecock Territory in early 2000, where he lived out the rest of his life.

He was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School. During his high school years, he was a member of the basketball team and New York City Bicycle Club. His commitment to protecting and serving his community was unwavering and he performed his duties with diligence and integrity, his family said. After retiring, he also served as a security officer on the Shinnecock Territory.

He was a fun-loving and cheerful individual who had a knack for cracking jokes and making others laugh. He also loved music, his family said, and it held a special place in his heart. He had a deep appreciation for all genres. His love for music was infectious, and he delighted in sharing his favorite tunes with others.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Eugene and Dolores Jane (Smith); and his brothers, Bernard Eugene and Glenn Brian. He is survived by his children, Reggie Jr., Gordell, Jay and Melanie; his daughter-in-law Crystal Nish-Wright; his granddaughters Mattah, Olivia, and Morgan; and his siblings, Phillip, Roger, Beverly, Bruce, and Scott.

His selflessness was evident in his interactions with others, his family said, always prioritizing their enjoyment and happiness. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, they said. His humor, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will forever be cherished.

A Case of Injustice

The recent dismissal of the indictment against Bob Terry and Terry Contracting was long overdue [“Payroll Case Against Riverhead Contractor Thrown Out,” 27east.com, December 2].
