Reject Liquor Application

A major transformation is happening at the former Hidden Cove Marina [“Hidden Cove Marina in Noyac Undergoes a Major Transformation,” 27east.com, September 5], and it appears to be happening too quickly and without input from local residents, as well as our local representatives.

Of the numerous complaints regarding the changes that have already taken place and the changes that are proposed to take place since the Hidden Cove Marina had been sold to Joseph Ialiacci, dba Marina Properties of Sag Harbor LLC, and Yacht Hampton Boating Center LLC, the public should know that a New York State liquor license 30-day advance notice to local municipalities will be on the agenda at the regular Southampton Town Board meeting that is to take place on Tuesday, September 12.

This application for a liquor license should be rejected. The granting of the liquor license will have a harmful and negative effect on the peace, order and quiet of the Pine Neck neighborhood that many residents have enjoyed and appreciated for generations.

This is not a location for the public consumption of alcohol — 51 Pine Neck Avenue is less than ¾ of an acre in size, surrounded by residential homes, and was for over 50 years used as a marina for small boats owned by nearby residents. The land use code for this property is listed as a marina and should not be used for entertainment, a bar/restaurant or any sale of alcohol.

I sincerely hope that the Town Board members will reject this application without hesitation.
