Sag Harbor native Richard A. McAree Sr. died on August 17 at Southampton Hospital. He was 80.
Born January 31, 1928, in Sag Harbor to Anna (née Quatrocchi) and Joseph J. McAree Sr., he attended Pierson High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948, and worked as a maintenance mechanic for Sag Harbor School District until his retirement.
Predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (née Ross) McAree, in 2007, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Labrozzi of Sag Harbor; two sons, Matthew McAree of Sag Harbor and Richard A. McAree Jr. of Florida; and six grandchildren, TJ, Andre, and Eric Thompson of Sag Harbor and Kyle, Erin, and Trent McAree of Florida.
Two daughters, Suzanne McAree and Elizabeth Thompson, and a son, Steven McAree, predeceased him.
The family received visitors on August 20 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. A funeral service was held on August 21 at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor; interment followed in the church cemetery.
