Former Eastport resident Richard Douglas Baulch of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, died on Wednesday, December 24, at Craven Regional Hospital in 
New Bern, North Carolina. He was 69.

Mr. Baulch was a volunteer with the Eastport Fire Department for more than 48 years. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from the 
Suffolk County Police Department as a captain.

He was a member of St. Mildred Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, and was a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Crime Stoppers, and a food bank volunteer in Swansboro, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Baulch of Cape Carteret; three sons, Richard A. Baulch and David R. Baulch of Long Island, and Jeffrey W. Baulch of North Carolina; a daughter, Janet S. Soper of Long Island; a brother, Douglas Baulch of Long Island; and three grandchildren.

A wake was held at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro on December 28, and a funeral service was held at St. Mildred Catholic Church in Swansboro on December 29. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mildred Catholic Church Building Fund, 616 Sabiston Drive, Swansboro, North Carolina 28584 would be appreciated by the family.
