Richard 'Rick' Shumway Of Southampton Dies February 8

Richard “Rick” Shumway of Southampton died on February 8, 2017. He was 66.

Born in Oneonta, Mr. Shumway moved to Eastern Long Island in 1978. As the owner of Atlantic Collaborative Construction Company in Bridgehampton, he was a prominent and respected builder of both homes and commercial buildings in the area, survivors said. With Atlantic, he oversaw the construction of some of the most impressive modern structures on the East End.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Shumway enjoyed spending time in nature in all seasons.

He is survived by his wife Diane; a son, Erek; a daughter, Meredith; a grandson, Logan; his mother, Madeline Shumway; two sisters, Gail Valk and Janis Murray; a brother, John Shumway; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, as well as his beloved dogs, Bailey and Halo.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at the Southampton Inn on Hill Street in Southampton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Northern Frontier Camper Scholarship Fund, northernfrontier.org; the Peconic Land Trust, peconiclandtrust.org; the Southampton Animal Shelter, southamptonanimalshelter.com; or a charity of your choice.
