Richard W. ‘Dick’ Kuhn Sr.
Richard William “Dick” Kuhn Sr. died on May 14 at The Chelsea at Brookhaven assisted living facility in Yaphank. He was 98. He was a longtime resident of Hampton Bays.
Born in Garden City, he was the son of the late John C. Kuhn Sr. and the late Anna Lhotta Kuhn.
He enjoyed golf, photography, hunting, playing poker and bridge, and cheering for the Mets.
He was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his love for and devotion to his wife, Rose, who predeceased him in 2016, and for his love for his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Christopher George and his wife Patricia of Lewes, Delaware and Richard William of Bel Air, Maryland; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his sister Helen Traystman (husband Herman); brother Jack Kuhn (wife Rita); son Matthew Kuhn in 1992; and grandson Zechariah Kuhn in 2023.
The family will have a private memorial service later in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps (hbvac.org).
