Rita B. Strnad of Quogue died on May 8. She was 85.

Mrs. Strnad was born in Greenport on April 21, 1923, to William and Agnes Bartlett. She was the Village Clerk of Quogue from 1948 until her retirement in 1978. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Quogue Fire Department and the Quogue Community Hall’s summer program.

Mrs. Strnad is survived by a sister, Marjorie Rodenburg of Southold, and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward.

A wake and funeral service were held at Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on May 12. Interment followed at Westhampton Cemetery.

A simple fact about the SALT deductions is being obscured with Nick Lakota’s statements in the news. If the 2017 tax rules expire, residents will once again be able to deduct 100 percent of their state and local taxes. If all New York representatives vote together, the new budget will fail. “Fighting” for a higher limit is unnecessary. Volunteer Ambulance HQ To Be Dedicated During Open House
