Robert Anthony Clarke Dies July 4

Robert Anthony Clarke of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died July 4, 2017. He was 77.

Mr. Clarke was a native of Glen Head, a graduate of St. Lawrence College and Long Island University-C.W. Post, a teacher, guidance counselor, and director of guidance and assistant principal at Westhampton Beach Public Schools, and later guidance counselor at The Gulliver School of Coral Gables. He was an avid gardener, a snappy dresser, and he loved the ocean beaches, survivors said.

He is survived by two siblings, John and Joan; four children, Peter, Christopher, Elizabeth O’Neil, and Daniel; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his spouses, Oonah Buckley Clarke and Morrison “Pete” Beers.

A private memorial service is planned.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was pulled over after being observed speeding and failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway, police said. A subsequent investigation revealed he was intoxicated, with a breath test revealing a blood alcohol level of .18, according to police. He was held for morning arraignment and then released.
