Robert B. Case of Southampton, Manhattan, and Naples, Florida, died recently at Southampton Hospital, of natural causes. He was 96.
Dr. Case graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and was on the staff of the National Institutes of Health NIH and the Harvard School of Public Health. He spent the majority of his career as director of the Laboratory of Experimental Cardiology at St. Luke’s Hospital and published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. He was also an active member of the Multi-Center Cardiology Research Group and retired as professor emeritus of Columbia University. Survivors said he was a brilliant scientist, a loving man, and greatly respected.
He is survived by his wife, Nan Case; and a stepson, Miles Robert and family.
A graveside service will be held at Southampton Cemetery on Wednesday, July 27, at noon. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
