Robert E. Fleischner of Westhampton Beach died at his home on Sunday, April 6. He was 94.

Born in St. Gallen, Switzerland, on October 30, 1913, to Richard and Minnie Fleischner, he graduated from the University of Zurich with a doctorate of law degree. After mandatory service in the Swiss Army, he rejoined his parents, who lived in Scarsdale, New York.

He married Jane Whitehouse Van ?Buskirk in 1945, and gained employment as a securities broker at the ?firm Bache and Company, working there until his retirement in 1970. The couple spent winters in Switzerland and summers in Westhampton ?Beach, until they moved to Long ?Island permanently following Mr. ?Fleischner’s retirement.

Mr. Fleischner was the president of the Friends of the Westhampton Library committee and taught French at the library for many years.

He is survived by two nieces, Molly Fleischner of California, and Catherine Fleischner of Texas; a stepson, Jay Van Buskirk of Florida; two grandchildren, Linda Eigenmann of South Carolina, and Lisa Rae of Texas; and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jane, in 1990.

Funeral services under the direction of the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach were private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 would be appreciated by the family.
