Robert J. Johnson of Hampton Bays and formerly of Levittown died on March 20 at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. He was 85.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a dedicated employee of New York Telephone for more than 41 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Dolly” Johnson of Hampton Bays; a daughter, Noreen and her husband Dr. Robert Iovino of Southampton, three sons, James Johnson of Connecticut, Daniel Johnson and his wife Helen of Port Jefferson Station, and Gary Johnson and his wife Joan of Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Kimberly and Kelly; three grandsons, Chad, Ryan and James Patrick; and a great-grandson, Joshua.
The family received friends on March 22 at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, where a parish prayer service was conducted by the Reverend Monsignor William Gill. A funeral mass was held on March 23 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton followed by interment with military honors at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Human Resources of the Hamptons, 168 Hill Street, Southampton, NY 11968 would be appreciated by the family.
