Former Sag Harbor resident Robert Kennedy of Flushing died on November 26 at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, just three days after his 65th birthday.
Born in Brooklyn on November 23, 1943, to Florence (née Fuller) and Dr. Robert Kennedy, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
He attended St. Andrew’s School in Sag Harbor, La Salle Military Academy in Oakdale and Fordham University in New York City and worked as an underwriter for New York State Insurance Fund.
In addition to his father, he is survived by three sons, Robert Kennedy III of North Babylon, Sean Kennedy of Freeport and Ryan Kennedy of Port Washington; a daughter, Kelly Kennedy of Port Washington; two brothers, Edward Kennedy of Florida and Kevin Kennedy of Connecticut; two sisters, Maureen Kennedy DelBalzo of Maryland and Nancy Bekerman of New Jersey; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother.
Visitation was on November 20 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Funeral services were on December 1 at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor; interment followed at the church cemetery.
