Robert Falk
Robert N. Falk of Eastport died at his home on June 10. He was 75.
Mr. Falk, who went by Rob, Bob or Poppi, was born in New York City to Robert B. Falk and Alys Baird Falk in 1945.
He was raised in a Cristian Science household with his brother Eric (Ricky) Falk, in Islip. As a child, his home was filled with music, which became a life-long passion, according to his family. You could often find him singing or listening to the Beach Boys, doo-wop, or opera, they said.
He graduated from Islip High School in 1963, went onto Cornell University, received a degree in industrial engineering and attended graduate school at New York University, where he received his MBA. He had a fulfilling career of 38 years as an environmental project manager for Suffolk County, specializing in the preservation of the environment.
Mr. Falk’s love for the water started as a young kid in the Great South Bay, where he sailed and competed with his catboat and sailfish. In his younger years, he was always on the water, weather it was out with the family on his Hobie, cruising the bays in his Starcraft, bodysurfing, or fishing.
He was a self-proclaimed meteorologist who knew the weather patterns of the various places in the world that his friends and family lived. Recently, if one was looking for Mr. Falk, he would often be at one of his favorite dock spots in Eastport, relaxing in the sun and enjoying the peace he found by the water, according to family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patrica Gillman Falk; their two children, Joshua Falk and Jessica Falk and her husband Fernando Barrera; his grandson Ethan Robert Barrera-Falk; and his sister-in-law Peggy Gillman.
