Robert Phillip Eckert
Robert Phillip Eckert of North Carolina and Southampton, died at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter in North Carolina on Saturday, June 4. He was 79.
Born to Robert and Ethel Eckert on July 22, 1931, in Huntington, he worked in renovation and construction. He worked for nine years at Central Kitchens and for 23 years with the Southampton Parks and Recreation Department. Throughout his life, he and his wife, Doris, enjoyed long walks along the beach and photography. He continued those interests in retirement residing in the coastal town of Calabash, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Eckert, (née Pierce); two children, Jeanine LeBlanc and Charles Eckert; four grandchildren, Richie and Rochelle LeBlanc, Benjamin and Colin Eckert; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Howard Eckert.
A private memorial service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery at a future date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brunswick Funeral Service in Shallotte, North Carolina.
