Robert Stein dies at 82

Robert Stein

Robert Stein of Remsenburg died at his home on June 28. He was 82.

Born in New York City on August, 26, 1927, Mr. Stein was the chief executive and owner of Joseph Stein, Inc., a coat and suit manufacturing business founded by his father in the early 1920s. He retired to Remsenburg in 1974.

Family and friends recently recalled his charming wit, warm presence, acute investment acumen and “larger-than-life personality.”

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine Stein of Remsenburg; two sons, Adam Stein of Remsenburg and Neil Stein and his wife Elizabeth of New York City; and a granddaughter, Kate Stein, also of New York City. Funeral services were held June 29 at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey.
