Robert W. Bruce
Robert W. Bruce of Greenport, formerly of Southampton, died on August 28 at Eastern Long Island Hospital. He was 68.
Born in Woodbine, Georgia, on November 22, 1943, his family moved to New York City when he was a child. He attended college in Tennessee, earning a degree in social work. After college, he returned to New York, where he worked for a brief time on Wall Street before becoming a social worker.
He moved to Southampton and opened Dolphin House Antiques, which closed in the late 1990s. At that time, Mr. Bruce retired to Greenport. He continued to collect and restore antiques in retirement.
He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Rose Bruce. He is survived by a cousin, Burford Clark of Georgia.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. Services were private.
