Many candidates for public office summarize their readiness for public office with resumes that speak to their achievements and qualifications for the office they seek.
Michael Iasilli, the Democratic candidate for the Southampton Town Board, will come to the campaign with a robust and meritorious resume — he is well educated, and his work history speaks to his ability to be an exemplary member of the Town Board.
Most recently, Michael worked for Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming. In that capacity, he proved himself to be a champion of the people of the East End community. By combining his knowledge of the levers of government with his problem-solving skills, many people are in a much better place than they were before Michael answered their calls for help.
He worked with various families to get them connected to social services. In one case, a family needed a helping hand to complete an application for Medicaid for a time-sensitive surgery for their daughter. He worked with the Department of Social Services to expedite the process and ensure that the daughter was able to get approved for critical surgery.
For women victimized by domestic violence and the psychological trauma that frequently ensues, he expedited the process to get them connected to the Crime Victims Center, as well as The Retreat, which provides shelter, counseling and legal advocacy, as needed.
He has worked with an elderly Holocaust survivor, who was recently evicted from her home. The community created a GoFundMe page to help her afford rent in the short term. To obtain a more secure future for her, he is currently working to get her connected to the Jewish Community Council of Coney Island to see if they can advocate on her behalf. She may be entitled to reparations from Germany as well as federal services that may be able to secure housing accommodations as a Holocaust survivor.
Let’s vote for Michael Iasilli next November so he can continue his good work.
