Rodney J. Berkoski, 70, of Gaithersburg, Maryland and formerly of Water Mill, New York died on August 3, 2023, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., following a 6-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on July 1, 1953 in Southampton, New York.
Rodney graduated from Southampton High School in 1972 and worked as a Mason for 45 years. He was a member of the Southampton Fire Department for more than 30 years and volunteered many years with the Southampton Little League. He could often be seen clamming or crabbing in the nearby waters or tending to his backyard garden. Rodney was always on a field or court supporting his children Allison and Kevin, never missing a game, continuing that same enthusiasm and support with his grandchildren, always showing up at the baseball game or swim meet.
In recent years, you would find him on the pickleball court with his wife Linda and their friends. He loved traveling and spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren. His laugh was infectious, and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege to know him, his family said.
Rodney is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Linda; their two children, Allison Cline and her husband Adam, Kevin and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, Collin and Carter; brothers, Robert and Donald; and sister Elaine.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents Jennie and Frank; brothers, Lewis, Richard, Gerald and Peter.
In keeping with Rodney’s wishes, there will be no formal services following his cremation, however, should you wish to honor his memory, donations can be made to the Southampton Little League P.O. Box 335, Water Mill, NY 11976 or Pancreatic Cancer Research by visiting www.pancan.org.
