Longtime Hampton Bays resident Rory M. McHugh died on March 2 at his home, of heart failure. He was 58.
Born on June 28, 1950, in Manhattan, Mr. McHugh was a 1968 graduate of Chaminade High School in Mineola and a 1972 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He worked for a number of East End publications, including Dan’s Papers and The Southampton Press.
He is survived by two daughters, Emily McHugh of Astoria and Hampton Bays and Nora McHugh of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Patricia McGue; and his mother, Catherine McHugh, both of Rhode Island. His father, Harold F. McHugh predeceased him.
A memorial service was held on March 10 at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary in Southampton, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
