Longtime Water Mill resident Ruth Brown died on November 7 at Southampton Hospital of renal failure. A U.S. Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service during World War II, she was 92.
Born in Denver, after her WAVES service in Florida during World War II, she worked as a child psychologist for the Great Neck School District. An ardent gardener, she would always bring bouquets of dahlias, her specialty, to the Presbyterian Church of Bridgehampton, which she attended every Sunday morning.
She is survived by two nieces, Ruth Hickman of Arizona and Debbie Cloy of North Carolina; a great-niece, Melanie; and a great-nephew, Christopher.
A memorial service set to be held at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Bridgehampton will be announced in a future edition of The Press.
