Ruth Downs Normoyle Of Hampton Bays Dies July 3

Ruth Downs Normoyle died at home in Eastaboga, Alabama, on July 3, 2017. She was 81.

Mrs. Normoyle was one of 19 children born to Frank and Viola Downs of Hampton Bays. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends, and was a member of the American Legion Hand Aldrich Post 924 Ladies Auxiliary and the auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Hampton Bays.

After her retirement from Bridgehampton Seafood, she relocated to Eastaboga where she lived out her days happily gardening and entertaining her love of animals and crafts.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Crenshaw and husband Danny, Harold Normoyle Jr., Wendy Normoyle and husband Martin, and Kathryn Flannery and husband Michael; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Edna, Avis, Regina, John and Tom; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by many siblings; and William Droskoski.

A memorial service will be held at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays on Saturday, July 29, at 11 a.m.

Southampton Police Reports for the Week of July 17

SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A New Jersey man was charged with assault following a road rage incident on June 30 following a motor vehicle accident on Hill Street. Police arrived at the scene and determined that Kevin E. Guevara-Martinez, 26, of New Jersey was fighting with a 43-year-old Hampton Bays man. Both men were arrested. Guevara-Martinez was charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. The Hampton Bays man had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and was charged there with harassment in the second degree, a violation.
