Ruth Ella Tiska Dies April 24

Ruth Ella Tiska

Ruth Ella Tiska, formerly of Southampton, died on April 24, 2022, of lung cancer at the Southampton home of her daughter and daughter-in-law.

Born in Southampton on March 17, 1952, to Clarence Fehner and Phillis Nichols, she graduated from Southampton High School in 1970. She married Allen Tiska in 1974, and they had a daughter, Susan, in 1976. She became the secretary at the family business, T&G Floor and Wall Coverings, on Windmill Lane in Southampton. In 1988, she moved to Babylon with her partner, Michael Scalice, and his son Michael James. She worked for MedStar surgical for 18 years, then Good Samaritan Hospital and Hampton Home Care in administrative positions. Survivors said she loved her co-workers like family at every one of her jobs.

She loved the beach, going on vacation with her best friends, gambling, and having Sunday dinners with family, survivors said, adding that after her diagnosis in March 2020, she fought hard until the end.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Tiska; her daughter-in-law, Patty Lucci; “sisters” Michele and Susan Vahradian; Robert McQueeney, Shaun Harrington, Michael James Scalice, among many friends who were like family.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice.
