Ruth K. Penny Of Hampton Bays Dies March 12

Ruth K. Penny of Hampton Bays died on March 12 at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 89.

A lifelong resident of Hampton Bays, she worked as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Company in Riverhead. She also worked for the Suffolk County Board of Elections for more than 30 years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Esmond “Pete” M. Penny. She is survived by three daughters, Karen P. Fallo and husband Frank of Hampton Bays, Maureen E.P. Demchuk and husband Bill of Mattituck, and Gale K. Penny of Hampton Bays; and a granddaughter, Tara Fallo. A brother, Ralph Lydecker, also predeceased her.

A funeral service took place on March 16 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays; the Reverend Lillian Hertel, pastor of the Hampton Bays United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.
