Sag Harbor native John R. Guerin dies at 82

Sag Harbor native John R. Guerin died on December 8 at his home. He was 82.

Born October 13, 1927, in Southampton, he was the son of Mildred (née Bill) and Claude Guerin. A graduate of Pierson High School in Sag Harbor, he worked as a lineman for Long Island Lighting Company and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

A member of the American Legion Chelberg & Battle Post 388, he served from 1945 to 1947 in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. 
He is survived by his wife, Josephine (née Trunzo) Guerin of Sag Harbor; a son, John C. Guerin of Babylon; two daughters, Joanna M. Hohmann of Northport and Mary Beth Varrelli of New Jersey; a brother, Jerome T. Guerin of Sag Harbor; and three grandchildren, Eric Hohmann, Julienne Vasselli and Mirielle Vasselli. A sister, Claudia McPartlin, predeceased him.

Visitation was scheduled for Thursday, December 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 11, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
