Samuel A. Esses, a resident of East Hampton for 22 years, died on July 8 at his home on Hands Creek Road. He was 78.
Born August 15, 1929, in Brooklyn to Mary (née Bailey) and Aslan Esses, he attended Brooklyn College and then served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. A former resident of New York City, he worked in retail.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (née Friedman) Esses of East Hampton; two daughters, Jordana Esses of Sagaponack and Merryl Esses of Florida; three sisters, Sarah Mizrahi and Norma Dana, both of Brooklyn, and Adele Levy of New Jersey; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Harry and Bob Esses, predeceased him.
Services were held on July 9 at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton.
