Sandra Lee Anderson of Southampton died at home on February 19, 2019, surrounded by her family, of cancer. She was 76.
Born on December 27, 1942, to Earl and Agnes Okeson of Butler, Pennsylvania, she was one of eight children.
Survivors said she was known for her laughter, generosity to others, and her community service. The owner of Sunshine Travel in Hampton Bays, Westhampton Beach and Southampton, she was a certified travel consultant who loved to travel and play golf.
She has served as president of Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Westhampton Rotary Club, Nine Hole Women’s Division of Southampton Golf Club, and the local chapter of Sweet Adeline’s.
Over the years, she had been host for five Rotary exchange students, received a Paul Harris Fellowship, and was on the board of Southampton Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard A. Anderson; daughter Deborah Heckert; son Eric and wife Aliza Heckert; grandson Rowen Heckert; and siblings, Donna Uber and William Okeson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 23, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
