Saturday Morning Car Crash Closes Speonk-Riverhead Road In Northampton

A car accident early Saturday morning temporarily closed Speonk-Riverhead Road after the driver of a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero crashed into two electrical poles near the intersection of County Road 51 in Northampton, the impact tossing his passenger from the vehicle, according to Southampton Town Police.

“Both were transported to area hospitals and the cause and circumstances of the crash is currently under investigation by the Southampton Town Detective Division,” police said in a release.

The road remained closed for several hours while PSEG repaired the electrical poles.
