Four Southampton High School students, from left, Riley Hermann, Daniela Yanza, Vanessa Reyes and Evan Simioni. were recently selected as leaders for the HUGS/Long Island Teen Institute. They were selected  for displaying strong leadership skills and dedication to making their community a better place. In their new roles, the students will attend staff meetings and trainings, act as a bridge between participants and adults, facilitate family and community group activities, and aid in the program design and prevention planning for HUGS Inc. and the institute. To raise autism awareness, Hampton Bays High School Life Skills students created beautiful mixed media works of art that are being displayed in the Helen Gould room at the Hampton Bays Public Library during the month of April. Hampton Bays Elementary School students in Amy McNamara's and Morgan Tiska's class, including Valentina Guevara and Mathias Herbel-Monsalve, recently created book jackets and book reports as part of a historical fiction unit. After reading a work of historical fiction, the students wrote a summary and provided information on the characters and the work’s historical context. To complete their reports,
