Lincoln Hatton was among the first to try a new book vending machine program at Hampton Bays Elementary School, a gift of the Hampton Bays PTA. The machine dispenses books to students who display traits, including kindness, generosity, fairness, perseverance, honesty, tolerance, gratitude, courage and responsibility, taught through the school’s character education program. Each month, a student from each classroom is selected by the school’s principals as vending machine token winners. Students use their earned token to select a book from the vending machine. Bridgehampton Union Free School District students, parents and teachers got the chance to participate in a Zumba class hosted by Sabrina Manglaviti. The Zumba after-school program pioneered by Hamra Ozsu is possible thanks to the schools 21st Century grant. The program helps to build school community through dance.
